LBHS wins at Laguna Hills Invitational 2026
The Laguna Beach High School wrestling team delivered a full day of high-level competition at the 41st Annual Laguna Hills Invitational on January 24, 2026, squaring off against 31 Southern California programs and one visiting Nevada charter school.
The varsity tournament featured a demanding 24/32-man bracket across six mats, serving as a final benchmark as the Breakers turn their attention toward the postseason. League finals are scheduled for Friday, February 6, 2026.
Leading the way for Laguna Beach were juniors Alek Ramirez and Xavier Brooks, who once again proved themselves among the top wrestlers in Orange County by earning podium finishes and continuing a season-long streak of tournament success.

Competing at 126 pounds, Ramirez advanced to the championship round and earned a second-place finish after wrestling four matches. He recorded two wins by technical fall and one by pin, showcasing his trademark control, precision, and consistency throughout the day.

Ramirez has firmly established himself as one of the region’s elite wrestlers. As of January 21, 2026, he is ranked No. 6 in Orange County Wrestling Rankings, one of the most competitive wrestling regions in California, and holds Honorable Mention in the California state rankings at 126 pounds. He has earned a podium finish in every tournament he has entered this season.

Orange County Wrestling Ranking - Xavier Brooks #1 at 215lbs
At 215 pounds, Brooks delivered another strong performance, finishing third in a challenging five-match bracket. He secured three of his wins by pin, continuing a dominant season marked by physicality and consistency.

As of January 21, 2026, Brooks sits atop the Orange County Wrestling rankings at No. 1 and has climbed the state rankings to No. 22 in California. His season includes three tournament championships, a podium finish, and two MVPs.
