Coach Bobby Morales was already an accomplished wrestler when he graduated from high school. He was named California Wrestler of the Year in 2010, a senior California runner-up, and a two-time state place winner for Laguna Hills High School. Additionally, he secured four league championships and two CIF championships while achieving second place in CIF as a freshman and third place as a sophomore. He also placed second in masters as a junior and became a champion as a senior. As a junior, he finished fifth in the 5 Counties Meet and was named champion and MVP as a senior.

Coach Morales lead Laguna Beach Wrestling to become a Breaker sport in 2018-19 when the school joined the Sunset Conference. In the program's first season, he coached three first-time wrestling students to CIF, which he repeated consecutively since the program started. In 2024, five student-wrestling athletes qualified for CIF, two of whom placed in the tournament, and one qualified for masters.
